Functional pouch formulation & bitterness management
Evaluating bitter actives, delivery considerations and the practical constraints of a small pouch format.
Explore the projectThe challenge
A functional pouch project involved theacrine and methylliberine—ingredients that presented a substantial bitterness challenge. The development work also needed to consider how ingredients behave during use and how the filled pouch holds up during storage.
Our approach
The assessment considered molecular properties, solubility and their relevance to buccal delivery. Separately, it considered particle retention within the pouch and storage behaviour. Flavour-masking options included cyclodextrins and bitter blockers, with attention to how a masking strategy could influence ingredient availability and release.
Project contribution
The project brought formulation assessment, taste-masking options and pouch-format constraints together to inform prototype development and manufacturer discussions.

Performance nutrition for the Australian food market
Developing a performance-nutrition concept around an intended food pathway and the needs of physically demanding work.
Explore the projectThe challenge
The brief targeted people working in physically demanding or stressful environments. The intended Australian food-market pathway needed to be considered alongside the formulation, rather than addressed only after ingredient selection.
Our approach
The development strategy connected the intended use, proposed ingredients, serving format and product positioning. The central question was how to shape a practical concept within the intended product category while identifying matters requiring further regulatory assessment.
Project contribution
The work focused on a formulation direction and market-pathway considerations for further development, supplier discussions and review.
Electrolyte formulation & manufacturing preparation
Translating an electrolyte brief into a documented formula and practical co-packer discussion.

Electrolyte formulation & manufacturing preparation
Translating an electrolyte brief into a documented formula and practical co-packer discussion.
Explore the projectThe challenge
An electrolyte concept required revisions to its mineral composition and a clear reference for manufacturing discussions. Changes needed to remain traceable as the project moved between formulation decisions and production options.
Our approach
A structured formulation workbook documented the revised direction and an alternative mineral option. Co-packer options were explored alongside the formula so that manufacturing discussions could use a consistent technical reference.
Project contribution
An approved formulation workbook provided the agreed reference for the next stage, supported by potential co-packer options. Exact ingredient amounts and commercial details are omitted from this summary.

Creatine gummy development for Canadian licensing
Connecting a creatine gummy concept with serving-size requirements and Canadian product-licence documentation.
Explore the projectThe challenge
A creatine gummy project needed the intended daily dose, dosage form, ingredient information and proposed label to align within an NPN application package.
Our approach
Preparation centred on the medicinal ingredient dose, the non-medicinal ingredient list and the information needed to describe the gummy accurately. The work connected the formulation details with the proposed directions for use and supporting application documentation.
Project contribution
The project focused on preparing the formula and product information needed for Canadian licensing review and identifying details requiring confirmation.

Fibre formulation for GLP-1 companion nutrition
Connecting a fibre-blend concept with formulation documentation and a Canadian licensing strategy.
Explore the projectThe challenge
The project concerns a fibre-blend stick pack positioned within companion nutrition. The brief requires a clear relationship between the proposed formula, intended use and the supporting regulatory documentation.
Our approach
The development scope connects ingredient and dose selection with the stick-pack format and application requirements. Dispersion, taste, serving size and gastrointestinal tolerability are relevant questions for the subsequent formulation and evaluation plan.
Project contribution
The work is being developed around a defined formulation and licensing package. This project profile describes the scope rather than presenting a completed product outcome.
Canadian NPN Licensing
Perioperative Nutrition: Class III NPN Licensing
A specialized nutrition concept intended for use around surgery required a coordinated formulation and regulatory approach. Kompete supported the project through a Class III NPN application, resulting in a Health Canada product licence.
